Green for St. Patty's Day

Hey all, we made it through another week, hooray!

I know a lot of you are getting ready to party big time this weekend for St. Patrick's Day.  While I don't necessarily celebrate the holiday, I didn't see the harm in doing some festive nails to be in the spirit with everyone else.

I decided to try out my Cult Nails Toxic Seaweed for the first time for this mani.  I layered it over a super bright green polish from the Spoiled by Wet N Wild CVS Exclusive line, called I'm So Jaded.

This color choice was picked because so far I've mostly seen Toxic Seaweed layered over dark polishes and I wanted to see how it did over something light and bright.

Here is what I came up with:

While you don't get the complete "wow" factor of Toxic Seaweed when it's over a light color like this, I still really like the result!  You can't see the flakies much, but the sheen and glimmer it gives the polish really works for me and I was satisfied!

I will definitely try it again sometime over a darker polish to show the true beauty of it, though.

In case you are wondering, here is what the base color underneath looks like on its own:

Spoiled - I'm So Jaded...2 coats

Spoiled - I'm So Jaded...2 coats

I really love that bright green too!!  If you look at the full sized pic you will see there's a really nice shimmer to it, instead of just flat neon green. I will be using it again soon for sure!

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone, have a fun and safe weekend!

Are you celebrating St. Patty's this weekend?  What will you be wearing on your nails for the occasion?

  1. This looks great - wonderful idea to try Toxic Seaweed over a different colour than we've seen before. I also like that you show the 'underwear' on its own as well, so we get a good idea for something similar (if we don't have the colour you've used).

Another great blog post by a fantastic lady. Have a great weekend!

  2. With green being my favorite color, I do like the festive things that come out with this holiday. I love Toxic Seaweed, and how it tones down the brightness of the under color. I will definitely have to go find these. :)

I painted my nails with Ulta's "The Jungle Look" on Monday, and am still wearing it 5 days later! It is the first polish I've used that didn't chip by the second day, and I just love the dark green color. I've used Sinful Colors green polishes before, and after the first time with San Francisco, had to over-buff my nails to get rid of this horrible yellow stain it left behind. After that I always try to put a basecoat down first, but with "The Jungle Look", I forgot to basecoat and it didn't stain! So happy to have a green that comes off cleanly. ^.^

I'd be interested to know if Spoiled comes off clean as well, or leaves a stain.

    1. The spoiled polish I used in this mani didn't seem to stain. Base coat definitely helps in general anyway, even with the wear-length on some polishes. Glad you had a good experience with your Ulta polish! :)

  4. I'm wearing NerdLacquer's Don't Panic - really a perfect green for St. Patrick's and the first occasion I've had to wear it.

  5. It seems like Toxic Seaweed makes everything look better. I wouldn't have considered owning that Wet n Wild polish before, but it gets tamed just enough by the glitter polish that I kind of would want it. I'm wearing China Glaze Luxe and Lush over Sinful Colors San Francisco for St. Pat's.

  6. It sucks that you can't see the flakies, but I'm loving seeing TS over a lighter base.
